AI image + AI video detection
Faux Spy uses Hive AI's industry-leading detection models combined with custom heuristics. We analyze pixel patterns, metadata, and contextual signals to determine if an image was generated by AI.
Faux Spy detects images from Midjourney, DALL-E (1, 2, 3), Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly, Leonardo AI, and most major generators. Detection works for new generators too as our models update.
Yes — Instagram, Pinterest, X, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads. Social platforms do their best to intercept click events, and Faux Spy works around that. Hover mode, Ctrl+Click, and Page Scan all work reliably. The only time it can't analyze an image is if the image URL itself is behind a login wall it can't reach.
That's actually one of the most common reasons people install it. AI-generated profile photos have become a real problem on dating apps — they're convincing enough to fool the eye but they trip up the detection models. Open Tinder or Bumble in Chrome, hover over a profile photo, click Investigate. You'll have a verdict in a few seconds. It works on any website, not just the big social platforms.
For photos from the big generators — Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion — accuracy runs between 90–95%. The newer and more obscure the generator, the harder it is for any tool to catch. That's why Faux Spy gives you a confidence percentage, not just a yes/no. High confidence? You can probably trust it. 60%? Keep that in mind but don't treat it as gospel.
Inconclusive doesn't mean real — it means the model doesn't have enough signal to commit. A few things make this more likely: heavily compressed images (like thumbnails), images that have been resaved multiple times, or photos taken at unusual angles where the AI patterns get scrambled. If you're genuinely unsure about a photo, look at it alongside the confidence score. An 80% "Real Photo" is different from a 52% one.
Almost none! We only send the image URL to our detection API. We don't store images, track browsing history, or collect personal information. Your investigations are private.
Every image investigation uses one scan. Free users get 10 scans per day — resets every 24 hours, no sign-up needed. Pro subscribers get 200 scans per month that auto-refresh on your billing date.
