What We Collect
Faux Spy is built with privacy in mind. We collect the absolute minimum data needed to provide our service:
- Image/video URLs - Sent to our detection API only when you investigate an image or video. We don't store the URL itself - it's discarded after the scan.
- Anonymized detection history - When you scan an image or video, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of its URL (not the URL itself), the verdict, and the website's domain (e.g. "instagram.com") - so if someone else scans the same image or video later, we can tell them "checked by N other people" and show the prior verdict. This record can't be traced back to you: we never store your user ID, IP address, the full page URL, or any link between this record and your account or device.
- Email address - Only if you subscribe to a paid plan. Used for license delivery and support.
- Usage statistics - Stored locally in your browser. Never sent to us.
What We Don't Collect
- ⌠Your browsing history
- ⌠Personal identifiable information
- ⌠Cookies or tracking pixels
- ⌠Images themselves (only the URL)
- ❌ Any way to trace a stored detection record back to the person who scanned it - no user ID, IP address, or device identifier is ever attached
